Standing on the Precipice

Hey there, folks!

So, picture this: my studio has turned into a quirky hybrid of a workplace and my husband’s office. Why, you ask? Well, we stumbled upon a sneaky water leak hiding under a filing cabinet. Classic, right? As a result, my plans for upcoming studio sessions have been temporarily put on hold until we spruce up the place with some fresh carpet. Fingers crossed, we’ll be back in business in a jiffy, within the next couple of weeks!

Now, here’s the deal: I had this grand plan to blog about an amazing studio session, but alas, that will have to wait for another day. Instead, I’ll regale you with a tale about one of my older images. Today, we shall delve into the captivating world of ‘Standing on the Precipice’—a snapshot that feels just as relevant to my life now as it did when I created it last year.

Let’s set the scene, shall we? It was the end of 2021, and COVID was still lingering around like an unwelcome guest who overstayed their welcome. By then, we had all become somewhat accustomed to this new normal, even if it was a tad exasperating. On a personal note, I had been battling status migrainous for a mind-boggling four months, complete with multiple hospital visits. Ah, the good old days when a mere four months seemed like a long time! Fast forward to October 2023, and I’m hitting the two-year mark. Yay, me!

Given the circumstances—my persistent migraines, the hefty dose of steroids wrecking my immune system, and my studio’s doors remaining shut due to my health—there was an overwhelming amount of uncertainty in my life. But hey, in the midst of my pain, I was determined to create something that felt like hope. I didn’t have a crystal ball to predict what lay ahead, but I decided to trust that everything would eventually fall into place.

And that’s how ‘Standing on the Precipice’ came to be—a representation of my willingness to embrace the unknown and have faith in the future. So, what did 2022 bring my way? Well, mainly treading water with my chronic migraines and surviving. And honestly, that was more than enough for that particular year. I made it through, and that was a victory in itself.

Now, let’s fast forward to 2023—an action-packed year filled with better pain management, improved adaptation to my new normal, the kiddos back at school, the studio doors swinging wide open, and guess what? I’m even heading back to Uni! Who would’ve thought? So, although ‘Standing on the Precipice’ was born from a place of uncertainty, I took a leap into the unknown, and eventually, things fell right back into place.

Of course, a massive shoutout goes to my absolutely gorgeous model, the talented ballerina, and my lovely SIL Ariane Beeston for helping me bring this image to life! It’s moments like these that make the journey worthwhile.

So there you have it, my friends—life’s little escapades, quirky office takeovers, and a sprinkle of uncertainty, all bundled into one light-hearted adventure. Until next time, keep smiling, embrace the unknown, and trust that things have a way of working themselves out.

Hold up, folks! What was inside my head while I was enduring the rollercoaster of migraine madness during this epic photoshoot? Brace yourselves and get ready to chill out and feel a bit melancholy, because I’m about to unveil the soundtrack that was on constant replay in my mind. Fair warning, though—it’s got that low-key, Radiohead-esque energy going on. But hey, let’s turn that frown upside down and embrace the mellow vibe. Picture this: it’s a lazy Sunday morning, and you’re chilling with your coffee, enjoying some tunes. So without further ado, here’s the playlist that kept me going through this time:
